Four-F on account of his ear

I have cracked. I have cracked like a marble that goes from boiling water to cold water. I know that was a terrible analogy, but I have to be at work in 11 minutes. Clever is out the door.

You guys, I bought -- yes, BOUGHT -- presents for my stepsister, my stepgrandmother and for Marvin Gardens. I suck. There just is no TIME. And Una? Your husband said he'd email me some suggestions and he didn't and it's SIX DAYS till Christmas so I did my best. They are from Amazon; you can return them. I TOLD him time was a-wastin'. It is somehow all his fault.

Oh, and I panicked and got something for my mother, too. All told, I spent about 225 bucks, maybe 250. Which, yes, is better than the $1200 from last year. But the point was to spend NOTHING.

So here is my tip for anyone thinking of not spending. Start making Christmas presents in October! I am not even exaggerating. It takes longer than you think.

Darn. Have to be at work in six minutes. That means I only have five minutes and 15 seconds to brush my teeth. (Love my commute!)

Generally the common wisdom is for a totally hand made holiday without turning into a raving loon oh.. say.. right about now (and trying to bend the space time continuum on the 24th) is to start in January. Feburary if you're feeling daring. :)

Hi. Thanks for sharing all of your stories from the past year. I liked 'em reel good. I've wanted to leave a comment for a while but haven't because I feel like I need to hire a proof reader to go over my blog. You know, in case you click on my name to see who I am. Please don't. I'm happy to report that this is the funniest blog I have ever read.
Thank you.

Ohh don't be so hard on yourself June .. you have done an absolutely fabulous job with your non-spend challenge for the year. At least you didn't buy something for yourself .. it was a selfless purchase with good intentions. Perhaps you can make amends to the no-spend-gods and make something for said people for their birthdays next year. Perhaps a nice mural made out of coloured macaroni stuck onto cardboard with a wool loop to hang it up. :o)

I love reading your blog! I'm thinking of starting my own blog about "the year of not buying any crap." Catchy, no? This would entail only buying what we need, plus gifts, experiences (dining out, movies), coffee while clearing existing clutter and examining the "soul holes" I've been filling up with stuff from the Dollar Store. Ugh, just typing that is bringing on a burning desire to buy $20 worth of Chinese Christmas ornaments/four to a box! I would also follow the "one item into the house means one item out" rule.

I look forward to your health blog! Thanks for all of the good writing, wisdom and excellent entertainment you gave me with Bye Bye Buy (which I always type "buy buy buy"---hmm)!

Is it just me? Or do all the comments on this post sound like goodbye's already?

And I just learned this place existed...
